Jess & Courtney!
Here are two lovely ladies, Courtney & Jess. Both of them have been the main driving force behind Large Ride Down's incorporation with How Bazaar!
Jess is responsible for the Art Auction which is a massive feature of the How Bazaar! event. As well as this she and Courtney are both actively promoting the charity and the ride in order to raise awareness and support!
Courtney is responsible for the Stall management and event coordination. Both her and Jess are helping each other out so that they get the job done as smoothly as possible!
They are doing an absolutely fantastic job! Not to forget they will in fact be driving the support car. So without these two girls we wouldn't be going anywhere very fast! So thanks to you both for your continued help; we honestly cannot thank you enough!
Don't forget to check out the event details and come down to see us in May!

In May there is a charity bazaar taking place in Lincoln! Why not come down and see us! meet the riders, drink some tea, eat some cakes, buy some vintage clothes and look at some artwork! Don't miss out! It is going to be a huge event!
All the money we take on the door goes straight to the charity! As well as this a couple of stalls are making donations towards the charity from the money they will be making!
It is important that we have people come down so that we can raise as much money as we can!
The event organiser is 'How Bazaar!' in co-ordination with 'Large Ride Down'
If in doubt! Come down and see what we have got on!

New Year. New Rider.
Due to unfortunate circumstances Rob Ashton will no longer be riding with us on our Large Ride Down. It is with regret that we have to lose him as a rider as he was incredibly determined to follow the ride through to its end. But as with everything, you can't account for every eventuality and sadly rob has had to pullout from the ride. Despite this he is still a massive supporter of what we are doing and plans to be there when we finish. We appreciate the efforts Rob has already made and without hesitation, we can assure we will do him proud.
With losing one rider. We offer up the place to an old friend, Will Earles. He steps up to the plate with more cycling experience than the rest of us and has the commitment and drive to make it with the best of them. He will be as important in this process as everyone else who is already involved. We appreciate Will making this huge commitment by agreeing to do this, so it means a lot to have him riding with us.
So with great pleasure, we welcome Will aboard.
Cheers.

SNOW!
For some reason there seems to be alot of snow about and we just don't know why... Maybe it is because it is winter but who knows. We have had to invest in some over shoes for the chilly weather as well as some winter riding gloves! Not the best idea to ride wearing fingerless gloves!
Because of the snow it has obviously put a anchor down on us for now as we can't really go out biking in terrible conditions but despite this we have been routinely attending the gym and eating leaves. Apparently eating leaves, which are healthy along with doing doing exercise is the best way to get winter proof! (we are obviously lying about the leaves)
Soon, we will have some more photos to put up of some of us out on our bikes and possibly some videos too! So make sure you keep checking back so that you can see how cold it really is, once you have seen photographic evidence of icicles hanging from our noses.
Cheers!

Why Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research?
There are 5 of us doing the ride and we wanted to do it for a worthy cause.
Originally it was Sam who suggested Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research; even without discussing his suggestion everyone had already agreed it was the best charity for us. This is for a number of reasons.
Some may already know, others may not; but Tom, who is another one of our riders has in fact had cancer twice. Both bouts were with leukaemia. He was first diagnosed at the age of 3 with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; following intensive chemotherapy and treatment he went into remission but soon relapsed with the very same cancer around the age of 7; He had to go through another course of intensive chemotherapy in addition to radiotherapy and various operations. Despite these minor setbacks he is in fantastic health and loves his life.
This gives us all a great awareness and appreciation for the importance of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. We are all passionate people and want to give something back to the people who have always, and continue to help others. It also helps that we are riding with someone who has experienced the cancer.
Without the continuous support from charities like Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a lot of people might not have had the some of the chances in life we take for granted. Fortunately, most live amazing lives after the illness. This is because of charities like Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research who work alongside our national health service to help develop and offer new improved methods of treatment, support and facilities for patients who suffer from blood cancers.
Some children who suffer from childhood leukaemia are not as lucky and don't get to live the lives they deserve. Any donation that you can make, will help Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research support the children who suffer from childhood leukaemia. Giving them the lives they should live. You will not only be supporting children, but teenagers and people of all ages who have to endure blood cancers.

Our idea is pretty simple. We will be cycling approximately 1500km over 10-12 days for something that means a lot to us. We are hoping that you can help us in our efforts by making any donation you can.
Sometimes it is smallest things that can change someones life.

If you would like to take a look out a general outline of our training schedule. Take a quick look at this. It isn't perfect but it is a gives us something to follow! In reality, the actual distances we will be training will be higher than these listed in the schedule; the figures in the regime outline the minimum of what we would expect each other to commit to in order to prepare for this ride.

What will we be riding?
Well as you asked so nicely! We will all be riding one of the Specialized Secteur series bicycles. This is a great bike for what we want and offers the best solution for our needs without breaking the bank! We will be riding variations of the series from the 2010/11 seasons. For more information on the bikes we will be riding why not have a look here!

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. These cancers are diagnosed in around 30,000 children, teenagers and adults in the UK every year. Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research was previously known as Leukaemia Research and has changed its name to raise awareness of its longstanding commitment to research into all the blood cancers - not just leukaemia.
Some information about the charity we are supporting! One cancer in particular that we feel particularly passionate about is childhood leukaemia.
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Reasearch. Beating Blood Cancers.
Childhood Leukaemia.
Leukaemia is the most common form of cancer in children. It is a blood cancer that affects the white blood cells, a vital part of our immune system that fights infection.
Around 450 children are diagnosed with leukaemia in the UK every year. Leukaemia tends to develop in children between the ages of two and four. But children of any age can develop this blood cancer.
Most children with leukaemia are diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is much less common.

Our new logo. It represents the nature of the cause we are raising money for. It is also meant to reflect the idea of blood.
Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research is the charity we are supporting. Hopefully with the funds we raise, we can help people who suffer from these particular types of cancer.
