Why Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research?

There are 5 of us doing the ride and we wanted to do it for a worthy cause.

Originally it was Sam who suggested Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research; even without discussing his suggestion everyone had already agreed it was the best charity for us. This is for a number of reasons.

Some may already know, others may not; but Tom, who is another one of our riders has in fact had cancer twice. Both bouts were with leukaemia. He was first diagnosed at the age of 3 with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia; following intensive chemotherapy and treatment he went into remission but soon relapsed with the very same cancer around the age of 7; He had to go through another course of intensive chemotherapy in addition to radiotherapy and various operations. Despite these minor setbacks he is in fantastic health and loves his life.

This gives us all a great awareness and appreciation for the importance of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. We are all passionate people and want to give something back to the people who have always, and continue to help others. It also helps that we are riding with someone who has experienced the cancer.

Without the continuous support from charities like Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a lot of people might not have had the some of the chances in life we take for granted. Fortunately, most live amazing lives after the illness. This is because of charities like Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research who work alongside our national health service to help develop and offer new improved methods of treatment, support and facilities for patients who suffer from blood cancers.

Some children who suffer from childhood leukaemia are not as lucky and don't get to live the lives they deserve. Any donation that you can make, will help Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research support the children who suffer from childhood leukaemia. Giving them the lives they should live. You will not only be supporting children, but teenagers and people of all ages who have to endure blood cancers.

Our idea is pretty simple. We will be cycling approximately 1500km over 10-12 days for something that means a lot to us. We are hoping that you can help us in our efforts by making any donation you can.

Sometimes it is smallest things that can change someones life.
